How it started
Designed from a student’s point of view
The idea for PhosQ began in a Grade 10 science class. Its creator recognized that every student learns differently and that even engaged students may sometimes hesitate to ask questions in front of others. PhosQ was created to make participation feel comfortable, private, and welcoming for everyone.
Developed as a summer self-directed project, PhosQ allows students to participate without using their real names. Each student receives one of 50 classroom-friendly usernames and can refresh the suggestion before joining, helping everyone contribute with confidence.
That student perspective continues to shape PhosQ. Students can join quickly, nearby classmates receive different question versions, and the questions become more challenging as the quiz progresses. Results are visible only to the student and teacher, while a final confidence reflection helps teachers understand where additional support may be useful—without adding another stack of work to grade.
